Making Agendas & Minutes More Accesible ...

We have changed the way we present out Minutes and Agendas. We hope by listing the files available via a month by month case will be easy to find. We have covered the last 6 months and will do so on a rolling 6 month period. If you would like files further back than that then please email the Parish Clerk for details.

10 Minute Open Forum...

(Item 5, minutes 12th December 2011) Mrs Murphy noted that Gayton had been unsuccessful in a bid to acquire funding for Vehicle Activated Signs (VAS) to help with speeding issues in Gayton, however, did note that SAM II (mobile speed indicator) would be visiting the Parish soon. Mrs Murphy also reported that new gritting routes had been circulated to Parish Councils and noted a need to refill the grit bin at Gayton Thorpe. A parishioner raised concerns that it is dangerous to walk along Winch Road from the junction of Lynn Road at night because of poor lighting. A resident of Ebenezer Cottages reported the damage a delivery van had made on the private road at Ebenezer Cottages by entering the road incorrectly. The Council advised that the residents of Ebenezer Cottages apply to Norfolk County Council Highways to erect a ‘No Through Road’ sign on the road.

Making Gayton Greener ...

(item 6, minutes 12th December 2011)

The Chairman welcomed Ben Binns to the meeting. Mr Binns gave a detailed and informative presentation on the various ways in which individuals, businesses and communities could become more energy efficient. The information he presented was very useful to the representative of the School’s Governors, the Chair of Governors, Rachel Mellor, and provided food for thought to the Council and the Jubilee Hall Management Committee for future improvements to the Hall.

Mr Binns also said that his firm were working on an easy to read handout to be delivered to households explaining how each homeowner could reduce their energy consumption.

Mr Binns was thanked for his time.

Footpaths on Backstreet ...

(item 11, minutes 12th December 2011)

The Council considered a letter from a resident on Back Street expressing concerns over the lack of footpaths along Back Street and the dangers this poses. The Clerk reported that NCC Highways had confirmed that additional footpaths would only be considered where there was a history of fatal or serious accidents. This, coupled with the lack of funding at present, means that Highways would not consider installing further footpaths for the foreseeable future.

The consideration given to the potential need for footpaths in Back Street led the Council to discuss whether a full investigation should be undertaken for the need for further footpaths throughout the whole Parish. It was agreed to ask Mrs Brock, the author of the letter, for further support from other residents of the Parish for footpaths to determine whether the Council would pursue the issue.

You can receive notification from Gayton News about our Agendas & Minutes once they are uploaded to the website. By providing your email details we can include you on a distribution list where you will be automatically notified of recent changes.
